About the Camp
The camp is for BOTH boys and girls entering grades 3-9.
Athletic Opportunities: The camp offers opportunities for development of athletic skills in two sports of their choice, as well as in several recreational sports. Each day, campers will receive intensive training from staff coaches consisting of accomplished high school and college coaches focusing on one primary sport and one secondary sport selection. These sessions will develop the campers’ skills in that sport and allow the staff coaches to focus on developing motivation, building confidence, and respecting yourself and others. Campers will also spend some time each day in lifelong recreational activities as they learn the value of friendly competition and improved confidence in activities that can be played at any age.
Life Skill Opportunities: The most important element of this camp is the commitment of the staff to helping campers develop life skills. By using athletics as a teaching tool, we provide opportunities for growth within these important defined life skills. We create an environment that fosters respect and support for others, while providing positive role models. We will not only have daily life skills sessions with speakers and assignments, but also incorporate these important skills and lessons into our sports sessions. Many camps offer the opportunity to improve athletic skills and others life skills. We feel there is a strong need for a camp that truly incorporates both of these settings.
The Life Skills: Our points of emphasis will be: Attitude, Communication, Confidence, Enjoyment, Respect, and Work Ethic. The incorporation and emphasis of these key points in both the sports and non-sports settings reinforces the value of these life skills in any environment. Direct and immediate use and practice of life skills and lessons from the classroom to the athletic setting reinforces lessons and helps campers incorporate these skills into their daily life.
